Effective Saturday, June 26, 2021, Mayor Hubert Yopp has declared a state of emergency for the City of Highland Park. Mayor Yopp made this declaration due to the massive flooding caused by the torrential storms that occurred from Friday night and concluded Saturday. The mayor has been working diligently, keeping in contact with officials from Wayne County, the state of Michigan and FEMA, ensuring that Highland Park residents have access to all available resources. The mayor and his office will make sure additional information is dispersed across the city as it becomes available.State Representative Helena Scott’s office is collecting information from residents to accurately document the damages caused from the flooding that occurred on June 25th and 26th, 2021.
