Education Strategic Plan

The children of Highland Park deserve a quality education and great learning environments in their community. In May 2018, the District’s Board of Directors launched a strategic planning process with Children First at its core.

This long-term education plan has three primary objectives:

  1. Re-establish the District as a premier school district in Michigan
  2. Reconnect with the community at large
  3. Lay the foundation for long-term stability, which includes growing District enrollment and its footprint in the community

Plan Goals

Always with the goal of putting Children First, the District’s Education Plan details three performance goals: rebuild, grow and achieve. Each goal is supported by a series of objectives, strategies and benchmarks to determine progress.

Each academy within the District will participate in an annual educational strategic planning process to ensure alignment with the Education Plan. Metrics for determining progress include:

  • Demographic profile of the school
  • Data-based academic needs assessment
  • Identification of desired academic outcomes
  • Plan for measuring results.
