HPSD Promise Scholarship
Our promise to every Highland Parker
The Highland Park Promise Scholarship
The School District of the City of Highland Park is proud to introduce the Highland Park Promise Scholarship. This award expresses our deep commitment to helping the children in our community attain the highest possible level of academic achievement. Promise scholarships will provide post-secondary financial support to every graduating high school senior who calls Highland Park home.
Beginning in fall 2027, any student who is a resident of the City of Highland Park and graduates from high school will be eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. The award can go toward:
• Four-year colleges and universities
• Community Colleges
• Trade and technical programs
• Apprenticeships
• Other postsecondary training programs
"Our district has been vocal about its commitment to putting Children First, and this is a tangible example of that pledge. We want every Highland Park student to know that this community is firmly invested in their future, no matter where their high-school diploma comes from."
- Isaiah Pettway, HPSD Chief Education Officer
A Commonsense Solution
HPSD does not currently operate a high school, forcing Highland Park students to pursue secondary education in neighboring districts. As Highland Park residents rather than residents of those districts, they’ve often been left out of promise scholarship programs offered elsewhere. The Highland Park Promise Scholarship helps fix this gap.
Through a dedicated investment, the Promise will evolve with the district, growing to meet community needs as capacity allows.
How is it Funded?
The Promise Scholarship is initially funded through the district’s restricted student activities fund — a pool of resources carried forward from scholarships and initiatives that existed before the district’s reconstitution. Going forward, the Board plans to dedicate a portion of the district’s annual fund surplus, along with community fundraising efforts, to sustain and grow the program over time.
Who is Eligible?
- You must be a resident of the City of Highland Park.
- You must graduate from high school.
Any additional eligibility details, application steps and deadlines will be announced closer to the program launch.
