Barber Preparatory Academy is a public, community school authorized by the Highland Park School District. Community schools (also known as charter schools) are free and open to all students and focused on meeting student needs for success. Community schools are among the top-performing schools in the nation. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high-performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.

Highland Park High School

Highland Park School District is proud to share our commitment to reopening Highland Park Community High School. Closed in 2015, this historic school has long been a cornerstone of our community. We are actively working to bring it back as a modern, innovative learning environment that meets the needs of today’s students and families.

Reopening the high school is a vital part of our mission to provide high-quality educational opportunities right here in Highland Park, and to ensure our students have the resources and support they need to succeed close to home.
